Göng&brú (Tunnels & Bridge) is an independent operational, financing, and holding company owned by the Icelandic state. The company’s role is to prepare, design, finance, and oversee the execution of major transportation infrastructure projects that support safe, efficient, and modern transport in Iceland.

The company was established on the foundation of Vaðlaheiðargöng hf. and holds ownership of the Vaðlaheiði Tunnel and the collection of its tolls.

Göng&brú is the collecting entity for tolls and service fees within the road network. Its operations rely on sustainable financing: the company finances itself on the open market without state guarantees on loans and without general operational subsidies.

With specialized expertise in the preparation, financing, and execution of transport projects, Göng&brú works to create a solid foundation for the development of vital infrastructure for the future.

Göng og brú will host an introductory and market engagement event at Harpa in Reykjavík on 17 September at 13:30.

We will present the company’s role and purpose, the infrastructure projects it will be responsible for preparing, financing and delivering in the coming years, and our approach to procurement and tendering.

Göng og brú ohf. appoints Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson as CEO

Göng og brú ohf. has appointed Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson as CEO. The appointment was made by the company’s Board of Directors following an open recruitment process.

Guðmundur Daði takes the helm at a pivotal stage as the company builds its capacity to deliver infrastructure that will improve safety and transport connections across Iceland.

Guðmundur Daði brings extensive experience in management, strategy and the delivery of major infrastructure projects. He joins the company from Isavia, where he served as Chief Commercial and Development Officer at Keflavík Airport. He held a range of management positions at Isavia and led the airport’s development and construction programme continuously from 2016. He holds an engineering degree from the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen.

“I am grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to leading Göng og brú. I welcome the government’s approach to accelerating the development of major transport infrastructure in this way. I also believe that my experience at Isavia in leading infrastructure development and delivering projects on time and within budget will serve me well in this new role,” says Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson, the newly appointed CEO of Göng og brú.
